The feet are an incredible part of your body. They are perfectly designed to help carry all the weight of your body, keep you balanced, and provide movement to get you from one place to the next. You stomp them, kick, slip, walk, run, hop, stub, jump and yet they still work every single morning. During an average day of walking, the total forces on your feet can total hundreds of tons, equivalent to an average of a fully loaded cement truck. Does that cause your feet to stop? Nope!

Here are some fun facts about your feet:

 According to APMA – the average person takes 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day which can be about 115,000 miles in a lifetime. That is more than four times the circumference of the globe!

There are 26 bones, 33 joints, 100 + muscles, tendons, and ligaments in your feet.

There are 250,000 sweat glands in a pair of feet; they can excrete up to a  ½ pint of moisture each day.

When walking, each time your heel lifts off the ground it forces the toes to carry one half of your body weight.

Most people have one foot larger than the other which is why it is important to measure the larger one when choosing shoes.

It is important to keep your feet healthy and functioning because a quarter of the body’s bones are in the feet. If they are out of alignment, so is the rest of your body.  Be sure to get your feet checked out if you are experiencing any type of pain as this could be a sign of a bigger problem.
